All of us experience low points in our lives. Whether it’s because of bad news you received or a job you didn’t get shortlisted for, it’s an omnipresent feeling.
Like any other journey, life has rough paths that we have to maneuver through to get to the light at the end of the tunnel. But sometimes,it seems beyond our reach; maybe even unattainable.
Staying motivated is tough during such times. If you’re experiencing something similar, here’s how youcan get back on track.
Appreciate the things you have
Instead of focusing on things that are absent in your life, focus on the things that are present in it. It can be as simple as appreciating the roof over your head or your family and close friends. These things may seem trivial, but remember that they are by your side in times of need. No matter how small they seem, you can always turn to them for a fresh perspective.
Shed the toxicity
Cutting off toxic people and habits from your life can be hard, but realize the importance of doing so to improve your mental health. Toxic people manipulate your worst fears and make you unable to see the positive aspects of your life. So take a step forward by shedding the extra weight off your shouldersand experience exhilarating freedom.
Set small goals for yourself
Running towarda long-term goal can make you feel exhausted. If you thought you’d be working at a multinational company by 25, being unable to fulfill such a goal can weigh down hard on you.
Don’t be too hard on yourself, and try to set short-term goals. This allows you to feel accomplished, keeping you positive.Magnifying even the most modest achievements can motivate you to achieve other objectives.
Take control of your life
While some things may seem past your reach, settling for mediocrity by giving up is not the way to go. Learn to recognize the difference between situations you can and can’t control so you can take charge.
Too many people relinquish control of their lives and accept their circumstances for what they might seem to be. Why? They don’t know they have a choice, the tools, the power or the know-how to confront their fears and challenges head on.
While you may not have an infectiously positive attitude, shifting your focus slightly toward things that make you happyinstead of harboring feelings of disappointment and resentment can make all the difference.
