How To Create A Rain Chamber?

There are many changes that are being happened in our environment. This is due to less concern towards Mother Nature and over selfish population. But, as the human race is multiplying, many animal and fish species are dying and are becoming extinct. Though India is blessed with rich biodiversity, nowadays because of all types of pollution, we see many reptile and amphibian species are becoming extinct.

To solve these environmental issues, many engineers are creating rain chambers that help to create a rain effect in a Metallic box. These rain chambers are being developed by Envisys Technologies, Bengaluru. Let’s see the process of creating a rain chamber and applications of rain chambers in this article.

Creating a rain chamber:

Rain chambers are used to create rainy effect to help captive breeding of diminishing species on Earth. The main chamber contains a utility sink, water jets, and water heaters and some timers and everything is enclosed in a glass chamber. These are the steps to build a rain chamber.

  • Prepare a utility sink and a hosepipe at the bottom of the sink to remove the excess water from the chamber.
  • Build a rain jet to dispense water into the chamber. This rain jet is prepared using PVC pipes and mounts the main jet into the rain chamber.
  • In the sink with water jet, place timers that are to be attached to the rain jet for controlling the rain jet dispenser.
  • For controlling the flow of water from the key, a pressure controller is also installed in a rain chamber.
  • A tank that is filled with water is placed in connection with the water jet to allow rain inside the chamber according to the rain schedule. This rain schedule will be pre-prepared and the tank connection will be an automatically filling connection for some types of rain chambers.
  • If you are using this rain chamber for rearing any frog, fill the chamber with water and close the hosepipe underneath with Styrofoam to avoid draining of the animals.
  • Fr breeding reptiles like frogs and reptiles, drill a terrarium for a rain chamber. You can decorate the rain chamber with artificial leaves and heaters to have a variety of temperature according to their breeding procedures.
  • Using a timer and heater maintained the humidity of the rain chamber.

Applications of rain chamber

  • A rain chamber is being primarily used to breed exotic species like frogs and reptiles.
  • Rain chambers are also used for experimental procedures by many scientists for research purposes.
  • Rain chambers also provide proper utilization of water in a small space.
  • They are available in varieties like touch-based glass rain chambers and regular rain chambers.
  • Glass chambered rain chambers are provided with automatic glass wipers to have clear and neat maintenance of the equipment.
